Jeannie Mai’s and Jeezy’s Wedding Plans
The couple originally planned their wedding to be a destination event that would last several days. However, much like millions of COVID couples they had to change their original vision to make it more real. However, this didn’t mean that the couple’s new wedding would not be unique. They celebrated their nuptials together at home in March, with some elements from their original wedding plans incorporated into the backyard celebration. Mai told The Knot that Jeezy and I had a microwedding when we felt like we were waiting too much to get married. After a while, our original plans started to feel like plans. We just wanted to be married. We made the best decision to keep our wedding celebration simple.
On March 27, the Emmy-winning TV host exchanged vows with Jeezy (Jay Wayne Jenkins), a Grammy-nominated artist-turned-entrepreneur. Although the location wasn’t as exotic as they had hoped it would be, they were able to exchange vows in a decorated version of their backyard with just a handful of family members. The bride chose a nude and blush strapless Galia Lahav gown with sheer embroidery and a detailed bodice. The bride’s elegant pink Teofilo Flor suit complemented the dress well. Denis Reggie, the famed photographer who captured the wedding photos of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, documented the intimate event.

The wedding ceremony
Mai stated that the exchanging our vows was the most touching part of our ceremony. Jeezy’s devotional words melted my heart. I’ve never felt more confident and proud in my entire life than when I declared my love for him in front my family and God.
The bride and the groom were both in their 40s, but their purpose was to gather their loved ones. Mai said, “We are not in our twenties.” We’ve chosen a wonderful group of people to be in our lives and help us grow. Even our friends, we have a lot of dope people. Jeezy’s family is warm, friendly and generous. My Mama Mai is my balance, and my mom is a journey.
They had a Coordinated Dress Code
The Knot predicts that Mai and Jeezy will be the 2021 wedding trends. Mai and Jeezy asked for a coordinated dress code and requested that their guests wear off-white. Mai explained to us that they chose the colors that would calm them most. “We wanted to coordinate with our guests… It is so cool when people plan their weddings according to what they want.”
Their Vendors were Everything
Mai and Jeezy got engaged in 2020. They soon booked their wedding planner with a few select vendors. “God, I love wedding organizers. She said that she believes they are the most difficult job. I don’t think about the next 10 steps after a decision, such as putting extra napkins with my ribs. I appreciate the existence of wedding planners… It makes my life so much easier.

Suzanne Reinhard, a luxury wedding planner, was hired by the couple to help them organize the private event at their Georgia home. My wedding planner is calm and cool. Mai stated that a wedding planner must make me feel relaxed and secure. I don’t like too many choices. It’s almost like when I go IKEA… There are too many options, I get overwhelmed and forget.”
It was Experiential over Decadent
Mai wanted to show respect for each attendee, and she did so by writing a personalized note. Mai said, “I write handwritten letters all of the time and I plan on writing handwritten notes for all my guests.” “I am so grateful to all the guests who came…I believe that they are witnesses.” They are our community.”
The couple wanted a wedding that was full of joy. “I have been to some of my favorite celebrity weddings. It’s amazing to take every flower on earth and create cool shapes. But, is the heart of the wedding? She speculated. “What is the essence?” she asked. Is the food good? Are you able to eat enough to absorb the alcohol? This is what I think about.”
